If I’m looking for an attorney to represent me, how can I ensure that I’m making an informed decision?
Answer: Well first, I mean—you obviously, you want to know about their experience. Do they have experience handling not just criminal defense, but this specific type of charge? Whether it’s a DUI, whether it’s a battery, whether it’s a murder. I mean, it’s really important to ask them, you know, whether or not they have experience in handling that type of case. And how often do they handle those types of cases? It’s important to ask about if they’re familiar with the process in the county that this occurs in. A lot of times it’s always better to have someone who’s familiar with the people in the jurisdiction in which the case occurred. It’s just—it’s easier to communicate with people that way, get in touch with them. Things like that. And then, you know, always ask them what sets you apart from—what are you going to do for me that someone else wouldn’t? You know, those are all very, very good questions when you’re trying to make an informed decision on what attorney to hire.
