Is a plea deal a good idea in every case in Florida?
Answer: Not in every case, because there are instances where people are 100% full-blown innocent. So they might not necessarily want to take a plea offer from the State Attorney’s Office. A plea offer, typically what I tell my clients, it’s doing what you think is in your best interest. So looking at your case, knowing all the facts, knowing what the evidence is against you, knowing what the State Attorney’s Office can prove and what their evidence is, that’s how you evaluate whether a plea deal is a good idea. Is it a good idea on every case? No. It’s not one of those blanket statements where you can say it’s a good idea on every case. But you have to evaluate your specific case and each case individually to know whether a plea offer is a good idea in your specific case.
